In the atmosphere, I diffused my handmade perfume that I made in a workshop. I displayed the plants with the pot on the floor with cotton bags and the bags prevent the water flows and it also contains and sustains the smell of the soil. There are parted plants hanging on the wall within the plastic bag. I created some holes in the bag, so the smell of the plants could diffuse. Also, I used paper clay with the structures to display each sculpture. So, those sculptures have similarities but have small differences. The small red bag in the middle is a strawberry jelly and I also made a hole to diffuse the fragrance.
Before I created this installation, I experimented with strawberry tea bags with different structures and some materials in the strawberry tea bags were also added to the soil on the plants. Thus, there are scents of plants, strawberry jelly and perfume. The reason I did not put fragrance on paper clays is I wanted to focus only a few scents in the atmosphere. I was inspired by my school days when I started to live on an island with no acquaintances.
I presented the installation that people get into a new environment and become adapted as people get used to the smell of a new scent. Also, the whole fragrance was similar to the smell from Jeju Island because the island is almost with nature and forests, so the smell of soil and plants got me through my school days.
